Friday we’ll be accomplishing two things:
1 – We’ll be grouping up and starting to learn to work together. At the beginning, we’ll have 4 – 5 large groups united around a theme or specific POV (finance people, politics, management). The goal here is to start working on our larger group projects – but we’ll also be practicing our presentation skills. Each team will provide 2 brave souls who will have their elevator pitch taped and analyzed. Time to start ‘positive critiques’ about our colleagues work. (Example: You’re great — now change everything.)
2 – We will also examine the Position Paper assignment in more detail. You are expected to get the assignment in BEFORE class (sorry), but you will be able to hand in an update after today’s lecture.
The key to assignment 2 – Position Papers is to understand your own POV (point of view) and that of your audience. You need to ‘hook’ him from the very beginning with a lot of relevant content in the first few words, ‘prove’ your claims in the body, and use a “CTA” or call to action at the end.
